Stories play many roles throughout our lives: they remind us of the past, transmit values and cultural heritage, teach lessons, entertain us or simply ease our minds. Therefore, they strongly influence our personality as well as enable personal improvement such as psychological, affective, cognitive and social development.
It is also common knowledge that narratives and stories enhance language acquisition as storytelling provides a context in which learning occurs more naturally. In this session, the considerations of the pedagogical methodology behind storytelling will be presented, from the major guidelines of how to pick books for students to practical tips on engaging students.
